Innovation Vs Monotony

Updated: Nov 11, 2020

In the gaming world the former is gaining less muscle than the later. When video gaming grew from the 80s to the 90s and early 2000s marked improvements were made from graphical fidelity to gameplay. From exemplary Titles such as Tomb Raider to Tom Raider Underworld you could see growth. From Tekken to Tekken 6 another big growth and the likes of Metal gear solid, Splinter Cell and Gran Turisimo etc. As from 2013 it seems as though the gaming world entered a static monotonous era in some prominent genera's. Sports games didn't evolve as they would and still don't to my liking. For example FIFA since 2014 maintains its arcade style for the most part adding more on microtransactions than improving its gameplay. Pro evolution while it does a good job on the pitch its still plagued by no rights and team leagues and seems to have never resolved that aspect thereby lacking the official authenticity of football. There was a time when Halo and call of duty were predominant fps shooters. Today we even have brands we don't know about that do fps as well. Story lines seem to have gone out the window it's all about who has the best multiplayer experience in the fps shooter genre. Its notable if you look at Call of duty Modern Warfare to Modern Warfare 3 I loved the characters within the story line only to find them all getting eliminated and since then the Series took an assassins creed approach of not having sequels at all which to me kills the plot. This and other factors is what motivated me to write my thoughts as contribution to what I think could be done to bring back the wow factor into what I believe to be an industry now predominant with lack of creativity because I am a passionate Gamer I want to see new things not repetitiveness. Make me drop my Jaws each time a sequel or new game comes into perspective. I believe game development shouldn't just focus on the best dev teams but should be more about what the fans the gamers want. If we as fans can dictate the pace of the industry I believe it brings a revolution to the industry. Of course not all ideas can be cramped up in a gaming title to suit every ones interests but I believe collective contribution of ideas can take the industry to the next level. Please join me and share with me your valuable thoughts, my ideas together with yours will be a game changer.
