LOST PLANET 3 (grievous)

Released in 2013 Aug published by Capcom for PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 with a decent amount of visuals this game in particular did not live up to my expectations and I will tell you why, lets find out.

It goes without saying that I am struggling to share with you anything positive from this title. I had only played one Lost Planet game besides this one which was Lost Planet 2 which I consider to be incredible. Its unfortunate that at the moment I do not have a copy of Lost Planet 2 but if I were to get my hands on it again I will definitely do aside by side review so that you can see why this third rendition is just grievous for me. Still 3rd person and same world universe but a lot was stripped off.

The word boring defines and shapes the description of Lost Planet 3. Its infused with a real loss of direction, unappealing AI insects to spend hours fighting coupled with a lonesome protagonist walking alone for the most part and to add on I found him boring as well. They shamefully retrospectively undid all that was accomplished and achieved by Lost Planet 2 making this complete revamped mess.

So yes you have these fine visuals but very weird gameplay. To give you to understand you feel like you are playing a game with so many shooting mechanics identities derived from a variety of places at once without having its own for you to savor from. This game is an example of a rather lost identity.

Coming from the fantastic single and multiplayer co-op modes you get from Lost Planet 2 and also really good visuals, glorious amounts of time spent gun fighting interesting varieties of villains (not only Akrid as with Lost planet 3) Lost Planet 3 just drops the ball in every way imaginable. It doesn't even feel like a Lost Planet game but rather an empty shell of the series former glory. Enemies are repetitive, the game world environment is the same Icey lifeless space. There is no visual art to appreciate from the environment.

All games I review I finish them before I share something with you about them unless there be some technical issues but this one definitely bogged down my momentum to not even bother continuing it to the finish line. Its more of a cognitive torture to try pursue the story line and let alone playing a game coupled with horrendous dodging mechanics. This serves as a testament to why graphics alone doesn't save the day. This title was a definite throw away of their past achievements and the best thing I did was to save myself space and delete the game.

I believe that as with any video game title/product your buy decisions are galvanized by the luring potential compulsion to play the title and with this there was none at all but rather investigatory playing as opposed to the former. I avoided this title 8 years ago because I had made my judgement based on the snippets I saw online of it and felt something was amiss. I recently decided to see if my decision to bypass this title 8 years ago was at all accurate and unbeknown its was not only confirmed but surpassed.

It saddens me to write such a negative review as its always our wish here at Subjective Reviews to share with you our experiences on some of the highlights on any video game title we may have come across. We attempt to do this from a personal opinion rather than forming a common appeasing one. Lost Planet 2 was and still is one of my top tier 3rd person shooter of all time, more of a timeless title and to see them downgrade in Lost Planet 3 makes me lament this chosen path with gross dissatisfaction. Lost Planet 3 is a mess, sadly all I have is a barrage of negativity derived from a game that lost its identity.
