Crysis 2

I played this game exactly 10 years ago remembering when it first came out in 2011 I rushed to the store to get myself a copy and play with friends. Indeed it was very expensive at the time as a new release. I played this Crysis before I had played the first one. Crysis 2 is a first person shooter developed by Crytek published by Electronic Arts and released on March 2011 for the PS3,Xbox 360 and Windows PC.

Now I recently replayed this game again just to recap on an old experience and it comes as a visually impressive game from the get go. Much was improved from the first game and one of the most impressive standouts was how the water looked like. To my eyes it seemed perfectly real water. Another thing that is brilliant about the game is the ease at which you get along with the combat and controls. Basically like all Crysis games you are an all in one killing machine with all properties on your Nanosuit.

If I remember correctly this game was one of the games which pushed the then systems framerate and graphics too to a very high level at which they struggled. Yes you would get that jagged image but trust me its more visible as I am looking back because at the time it was great to the eye. We have to understand that as you live in a particular generation of gaming the visuals of the time don't look bad at all only a little here and there but when you look back years later you wonder why you missed all the image noise and low frames and all. It was best played on PC by far then to maximize it and have it run more stable. To my disappointment I did not get the benefits of seeing the incredible suit in action as its a first person shooter game. I think this series would be really great if they could make it a 3rd person shooter, just to see the effects of the Nanosuit.

Again looking back the NPCs looks and also how your AI foes react was really done well. There was an intelligence in taking out the C.E.L.L forces, how they took cover and fired back was an intelligent reaction. Its something that some gaming titles don't really maximize on as at times the AI is not fully alert of your presence.

I liked how you could easily upgrade your character and at the beginning of the game you get an on the go tutorial. Its such a tactical easy game to play as much of what is needed to take down your enemies is already on you. The storyline was a bit complicated and white washed to some extent but nonetheless that did not ruin the game progression you would get from the story as everything had a relevance in the build up to the climax of the story.

Crysis 2 will forever remain one of the best looking games visually depicting an apocalyptic New York city with a great destructive environment thanks to the havoc engine. Easy to play though with a somewhat complicated story it delivers what one would expect from a 3rd person shooter. At the most you obtain the sheer fun out of taking out your enemies the way you want with the ability to be more stealthy and agro at the same time. Regarding a sequel I wouldn't mind but I think they need to incorporate the 3rd person view because at the moment games of this nature are now many and the competition is high so I think the best direction they could take would be to magnify the Nanosuit by us seeing its glory.
