Fable Anniversary on Series X

Welcome dear reader to another short insight on this classic game that I am currently having a good time with. This RPG game was released by Lionhead studios for the Xbox 360 and PC as a high definition remaster version of the original Xbox Fable ( released 2004 September). So straight to eat GGS:

Graphics

Series X has an easy Job with this game because straight from the system menu you switch on fps boost and auto HDR and boom its picture perfect showing the full potential of the game at the time. It is dated of course but maintains its cute nature with good lighting and does not look rough on the edges of the image at all.

The menu is very much ok just the map that's weird to navigate on because its kind of clunky or in other terms hard to refer to when zooming out of an area to see exactly where you are and where you can just go next but the game is very much presentable and straightforward. Not much to say here than it being very smooth looking.

Gameplay

To say the least its very smooth and I believe its running at 60fps as it doesn't at all feel nor look like 30. I do not do performance metrics so I cannot say for certain that its 60fps but ii does look and feel so. You have zero problems here on the Series X however I just did come across weird stuttering in an area called the Guild, perhaps its just one of those un-ironed out issues but its not a deal breaker at all. You getting basically a kind of a hack and slash experience here though not heavy handed but good still.

You will also enjoy wielding a variety of powers which are simple to switch over to using your RT and B buttons. Again no issues here overall. Feel free to check it out on our twitch just for ease of reference if you want to easily get the gist of what its all about and how it looks but just bear in mind it will be 720p 60 so might not be a true representation of what the game may look like to you on your hardware of choice.

Story

I found it very interesting and charming, compounded within itself with so much simplicity and just palatable to the mind in nature. This is what I am actually playing the game for to find out what its all about. I haven't completed the story yet but its a good for all ages game in my opinion.

Conclusion

Fable is a game that feels great on a premium console and am sure easily on a PC as well, nothing is complicated about it its straightforward both in gameplay and story and is something worth revisiting or playing for the first time.

Pros

Fair enough visuals and smooth gameplay

simple interesting story

cons

old clunky map

its dated visually
