The intensity from the first Gears definitely gets dialed up here. From the get go you are immersed in intense gun fights that are consistent all the way through.
A thing I loved the most was that the dev team here worked on the problems the first Gears had. The most noticeable being the AI which was vastly improved in this game. You no longer have to constantly rescue your AI mate as he can watch over himself better, also in turn they watch over you during a hectic gun fight. I literally played the Xbox 360 version of it released 12 years ago but I had fun just the same.
I like how the story continues and didn't lose direction but instead adds more mystery introducing or rather shading light on an interesting race of the Lambent, which was fighting against the Locust (regular locust). The gameplay although 12 years of age still makes me respect the effort that went into this, simply easy to learn and play a bit more fluid from the first Gears.
What I love about retro games was it wasn't about just a game looking good but well written stories which resulted in sequel after sequel. You can definitely see this from other games like Call of duty, God of War, Tomb Raider, Halo the list goes on. You could see they stuck to a script and kept familiar characters which is unlike these days where sometimes you get one hit and no more sequel after or like Assassins creed you keep getting a new setting and new protagonists which isn't to my liking though it brings on variety.
Surely this was Gears on steroids you get exposed not only to gun fights but you can use various vehicles including controlling the notorious Brumak itself. I highly recommend this if you want to buy it and keep it as an antique because such games a rare.
I have not much to say and nothing to subtract from this title its was just exciting and brilliant. If you got the chance to play this please let me know your thoughts. Stay safe cheers.
